From late June to September, Lucknow and most of North India get heavy rain. You can still move safely; you just need to plan for water.

Tips for a dry move

1. Ask early for a closed container. In the rains almost every customer wants one, so they are supplied subject to availability. Whatever the vehicle, every item should be wrapped against water.
2. Wrap furniture in plastic. Add a layer of stretch film or polythene over wooden furniture and mattresses.
3. Use waterproof bags for clothes. Cartons absorb moisture; sealed bags do not.
4. Raise cartons off the floor. Keep them on pallets or furniture while waiting to load.
5. Protect electronics twice. Foam, then bubble wrap, then plastic.
6. Cover the path. Lay sheets or old rugs from the door to the truck so floors are not slippery.
7. Watch the forecast. Plan loading in the driest part of the day.
8. Air everything out. At the new home, open cartons within a day or two so nothing stays damp.
9. Keep silica gel or naphthalene with clothes and books to absorb moisture.
