Transferred to Lucknow? A moving guide for government employees

As the state capital, Lucknow receives a steady stream of transferred officers and staff from central and state government, PSUs, banks and the defence services. Transfer moves come with their own pressures: short notice, reimbursement rules and waiting for accommodation.

Before you move

• Read your department's transfer rules on what is reimbursed (household goods, vehicle, packing) and what documents are needed.
• Ask if prior approval or multiple quotes are required before you book.
• Book early: transfer seasons fill up movers' calendars.

Paperwork to keep

• GST tax invoice from a registered company, with an itemised breakdown
• Lorry receipt (consignment note) with the vehicle number
• Inventory of goods
• Car or bike transport receipt, if applicable
• Payment receipts

We issue these on company letterhead for every transfer move. Invoices show exactly what was charged; we cannot change amounts or dates.

Waiting for accommodation

Allotment of official accommodation can take time. Your goods can wait in our Lucknow warehouse and be delivered when you have the keys.

Settling in

Update your address on official records (see our address change checklist), find schools and doctors in your area, and if you have moved your vehicle from another state, check re-registration rules and the BH series option.
