Searching for packers and movers in Lucknow brings up hundreds of names, and many of them look the same online. The difference shows up on moving day: whether the crew arrives on time, whether your glass table reaches in one piece, and whether the price stays what you were told. Here is how to choose well.
1. Start with a physical address you can visit
A genuine moving company has a real office and usually a godown. Look for a full street address, not just a mobile number. If you can, visit the office or ask for a video call from it. Our own office is at Sanatan Nagar, Kamta, on Faizabad Road, and customers are welcome to drop in.
2. Insist on a survey before the quote
A price given on the phone without seeing your goods is a guess. Reliable movers send someone to see your home, or do a video survey, and list the items. A survey-based quote is far less likely to change on moving day.
3. Get the quote in writing
The written quote should show packing, loading, transport, unloading, unpacking, GST and any extra charges such as floors without a lift or long carrying distance. If something is "extra" but not written, ask about it now.
4. Ask what packing material they use
Good packing needs bubble wrap, foam, corrugated rolls and strong cartons. Ask how they pack a TV, a glass top and a fridge. A company that answers specifically has done it before.
5. Check the vehicle type
For anything beyond a local move, ask about a closed container early, as good movers have a limited number and supply them subject to availability. Whatever the vehicle, check that goods will be wrapped against rain and dust.
6. Understand insurance
Transit insurance is optional but worth it for long distances and costly goods. Ask what it covers, the premium, and how claims work. Read more on our transit insurance page.
7. Read reviews carefully
Look at recent Google reviews and read the negative ones too. How a company responds to a problem tells you a lot.
8. Be wary of very low prices
A quote far below others usually means cheap material, a shared open truck, or charges added later. Compare like with like.
9. Pay sensibly
Never pay the full amount before your goods are loaded, and always take a receipt. At Narayan Packers & Movers, 80% is paid at the loading point and the remaining 20% at delivery. Our article on spotting fake packers and movers covers the common scams.
10. Ask who handles the destination
For intercity moves, ask whether the same team or a partner will unload and unpack, and make sure the same inventory list is used at both ends.
Questions to ask before booking
- Is this a fixed price after the survey?
- Is it a dedicated or shared truck?
- How many workers will come, and is there a supervisor?
- How long will delivery take?
- What happens if something is damaged?
