Your LPG connection does not move by itself. How you transfer it depends on whether you are staying in the same city or moving to a new one.
First: cylinders and the moving truck
Filled gas cylinders must not travel with household goods. They are a fire and explosion risk in a closed truck. Return or empty the cylinder before moving day; your mover will refuse a filled one.
Moving within the same city
If your new home is in the area of a different distributor of the same company, you can request a transfer to the new distributor. Oil companies offer this through their customer portals and apps, or at the distributor's office. You keep your consumer number in most cases.
Moving to another city
- Go to your current distributor with your subscription voucher (SV) and connection papers.
- Return the cylinder(s) and pressure regulator.
- The distributor issues a Termination Voucher (TV) for the connection.
- In the new city, take the TV to a distributor of the same oil company. They issue a new subscription voucher and connection.
Ask both distributors about the deposit amount, as it may differ between the original connection and the new one.
Documents to keep handy
- Your original subscription voucher and consumer number
- ID proof and proof of the new address
- The termination voucher, which is valuable, so keep it with your important documents
Procedures vary between oil companies and are updated from time to time. Check with your distributor or the company's official website.
